Spring has burst into Browns Bay and the countdown to summer is officially on! Our seaside town is already buzzing with longer days, warmer weather and that unmistakable energy that comes with the season. And while we’re soaking it all up, we’ve also got our sights firmly set on the festive season ahead, including two much-loved Christmas events that bring our community together and light up the Bay.
First, a big thank you to everyone who came along to the Stihl Shop Browns Bay Boys Toys 2025 event last month. What a day! From shiny hot rods, classic cars and massive trucks to the hardy stallholders who braved the blustery weather, it was wonderful to have the community gather and celebrate. Congratulations to the prize winners, and to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to make it a success.
This October marks a very special milestone for The Browns Bay Business Association: our 70th birthday! Incorporated on 13 October 1955 as the Browns Bay Businessmen’s Association, the group was originally formed to support local business, and champion our seaside town. In 1994, the name was updated to reflect the diversity of our membership, recognising women and all who contribute to Browns Bay’s business community. Seventy years on, we’re proud to carry forward this legacy of connection, support and celebration. It’s also the perfect moment to acknowledge the many local business owners who, over the decades, have generously invested their time, energy and expertise to make our town centre a vibrant hub with enduring community spirit.
Looking ahead, our calendar is buzzing with activity. First up is our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 21 October 2025 at the Browns Bay Racquets Club. We’re excited to welcome award-winning marketer Stu Lees, who will be sharing smart, practical tips on how to market your small business on a shoestring. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for members to connect, hear the latest updates, ask questions, and help shape the vision for Browns Bay’s future.
Then the countdown to Christmas begins! On Friday 14 November, our much-loved Light Up the Plaza returns to officially launch the festive season. Expect live music, entertainment, and of course the twinkling lights that make the plaza shine. Just a few weeks later, on Sunday 6 December, the Safe Drive Vehicle Testing Browns Bay Christmas Parade & Markets will burst onto our town centre streets with colour, joy, and community spirit. This much-anticipated day is a highlight for families, businesses and community organisations alike, drawing thousands of visitors into town for a magical celebration. And don’t miss The Christmas Heirloom Company pop-up shop at 83 Clyde Road – the perfect place to find stunning decorations to bring the season home.
From a small seaside association in 1955 to a strong, inclusive organisation in 2025, we’re excited to celebrate our history while looking to the future. Here’s to another season of connection, community and celebration in beautiful Browns Bay.
