Spring is such a positive time of year. It heralds the arrival of warmer temperatures, extra sunlight hours, and a much-needed dousing of new growth, change and positive vibes.

So far 2024 has continued in the same fashion as the economic challenges that we have endured over the past few years. But my optimism prevails. There are indications of an upturn for the remainder of the year and into 2025. New Zealand householders and consumers need it! Opportunities always arise from difficult situations so I am focusing on the positive. Trade will pick up, leasing will return to normal levels, house purchasing will trend upwards once again, and consumers will regain confidence in our economy. There is a lot to look forward to.

Continuing on a positive note, Stihl Shop Browns Bay Boys Toys in early September was a great success, bringing many new faces to town to enjoy the event, but also to explore our shopping, eating, and the beach. After all, these amenities are only a stone’s throw from the event site in Phoenix Plaza. I spoke to a gentleman from South Auckland who commented on the amazing vibe in Browns Bay. Let’s face it – there are always things we could do better – more free parking, extended trading hours, more street lighting, and the list goes on – but the flip side of advocating for more and better is celebrating what we are so lucky to have. And we are incredibly fortunate.

While on the topic of events, our Annual General Meeting will be held on 22 October 2024 at the Browns Bay Racquets Club. BID Members are most welcome to join us for a glass of wine and an update on past achievements and future plans. We are also busy preparing for our festive events on 15 November Light Up The Plaza and 7 December Safe Drive Vehicle Testing Browns Bay Christmas Parade. Mark those dates in your calendars.

As always, we thank you for your ongoing support of local businesses. For more news on what’s happening in Browns Bay like our Facebook and Instagram pages and subscribe to our online newsletter on our website.
