Browns Bay holds several free community events and ‘shop local’ promotions each year to involve and thank the  community for their loyalty to our local businesses, as well as and attracting visitors from further afield. Our signature event is the annual Browns Bay Christmas Parade which attracts up to 10,000 visitors. We also love having outdoor movies on the beach reserve in a perfect summertime setting, and Father’s Day Boys Toys (first Sunday in September) is becoming a very popular recurring family event.

Browns Bay Fishing Competition 2021

May 2, 2021 @ 6:30 am 3:00 pm UTC+12

In association with Coastguard North Shore and the Browns Bay Boating Club, Browns Bay businesses bring you the BROWNS BAY FISHING COMPETITION on Sunday 2 May 2021. Spend the day on the water with your family in a new and sustainable way, using the ‘catch and release’ fishing technique. Recommended, but not compulsory.

All proceeds from entry fees will be donated to Coastguard North Shore Unit for the amazing work that the team of volunteers does to keep our coastlines safe.

Please leave sufficient time to register and pay your entry fee on the day at Browns Bay beach. Registration is at the Browns Bay Marine Centre, 10 Beach Front Lane. Access to the beach is via the boat ramp towards the northern end of the beach (behind the Marine Centre off Bayview Road). Members may make use of the Boating Club tractor to launch their vessels.

There are great prizes to be won, including a Yamaha 3hp outboard motor, fish smokers, fishing tackle and gear, vehicle service/repair and loads of gift vouchers. Lots of spot prizes will also be handed out at the prize giving (4pm). Winners must be present.

Huge thanks to the sponsors of the category prizes: Fishing Boats NZ & Yamaha, Mitre 10 Browns Bay, Fish City, Burnsco Albany and GP Auto Centre for their generous contributions.
