Browns Bay holds several free community events and āShop Localā promotions each year to involve the community, and thank them for their loyal patronage of local businesses, as well as enticing visitors from further afield.
We are very proud of two signature events that continue to grow exponentially. The first is the Browns Bay Christmas Parade, otherwise known as ‘the biggest little Christmas Parade in Auckland’. It attracts up to 30,000 visitors, and is an amazing way to acknowledge the arrival of the festive season at the seaside. The other signature event is Summer Spectacular, which happens at the height of Summer on the Browns Bay summer beach reserve as a celebration of our beautiful beach and it close connectivity with the town centre.

Summer Spectacular is back at Browns Bay Beach, where the sun shines, the music plays, and the fun never stops! Whether your little ones are adventure seekers or youāre looking to kick back and soak up the summer vibes, thereās something for everyone.

- sandcastle sculpture competition
- giant games and puzzles… and more!
Catch live music in Phoenix Plaza and on the beach reserve, all while enjoying the stunning summer backdrop of Browns Bay Beach.
Support our amazing local businesses while you’re in town. Grab a bite at one of the many nearby eateries, enjoy a takeaway picnic and a glass of wine on the reserve, browse the market stalls – don’t forget your wallet – and find time to relax and soak up the seaside vibes.
šļø Admission to this event is free! Kidsā activity wristbands for fun fair and pony rides, inflatables and face painting are $10 per child for unlimited use between 10am and 4pm. They can be purchased from 8am at the Information Station on the boardwalk (next to the whale tail sculpture). Cash and EFTPOS accepted.

Thanks to Hibiscus and Bays Local Board for their continued generous financial backing of Summer Spectacular, and to Barfoot & Thompson’s Mehran Zareian, Neil Gorman and Geraldine Zareian for contributing towards the cost of the live bands and running a sandcastle sculpture competition on the beach as part of the event.
We encourage a smoke-free event and ask you to refrain from smoking or vaping at the event site. Dogs are welcome but please keep them on a leash.
