Browns Bay holds several free community events and ‘shop local’ promotions each year to involve and thank the community for their loyalty to our local businesses, as well as and attracting visitors from further afield. Our signature event is the annual Browns Bay Christmas Parade which attracts up to 10,000 visitors. We also love having outdoor movies on the beach reserve in a perfect summertime setting, and Father’s Day Boys Toys (first Sunday in September) is becoming a very popular recurring family event.
Browns Bay Christmas Parade 2022
December 3 @ 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm UTC+12
The Biggest Little Parade in Auckland is happening right here in the heart of Browns Bay! We’ve missed it these past couple of years but it’s back with an extended parade route due to the increased number of floats participating.
Enjoy the festive vibe in the town centre in the lead up to the parade: live bands playing and singing Christmas carols and festive favourites in Phoenix Plaza from 1.30pm; entertainers to capture the little ones’ imaginations; and arts and crafts market stalls between 3pm and 7.30pm. We suggest bringing some cash as there will be a great array of artisan products by local suppliers – ideal for Christmas gifts. The parade starts at 5pm with a myriad of floats, entertainers, bands, dancers, festive vehicles, and colourful characters that are bound to last in your childrens’ memories for a long time.
The parade starts at the northern end of Beach Front Lane (at the Marine Centre and Police Station) at 5pm, does a circular route around the town, and finishes back at the starting point at approx. 6pm.
We recommend using public transport, or car pooling to attend the parade as parking spaces close to the event site will be very limited. For those who will be driving, please park outside of the town centre. Streets on the parade route will be closed between 2pm and 7pm. This includes Beach Front Lane, Bute Road, Anzac Road and Glen Road.
Clyde Road will remain open and can be accessed via Beach Road into Inverness Road all day as this street will not be on the parade route this year. No vehicle access to Clyde Road via Anzac, Bute, Valley and Browns Bay Roads between 2pm and 7pm.
